These are a few of my dog related favorites.

Favorites include people, websites and everything dog related I particularly like, or has caught my interest. It's not about endorsing or making money; it's all about things that are unique, simply awesome or work really good. Things and people that are on my mind, have impressed me in the past and impact me in the present.

My favorites, like free dog tips and Top Ten will be expanded frequently.

If you have a something/someone you like to see added to my list, send me an e-mail

Have a great dog with Furbabies puppy and dog training
is a like-minded and purely positive dog expert in NZ.

Amazing Mutts is a small trainer/owner operated dog training business in Corona/California, who offers private services with the focus to build relationships to get the behaviors you want. The method is positive reinforcement.

I love working with all breeds and mutts, but, as a typical human, do have a favorite breed. My next dog might be a Mini Australian Shepherd, and she will come from a responsible breeder like A King's Castle Mini Aussies.

I am anchoring The Plymouth Review Dog Page biweekly with my columns. Check them out!

My favorite walking tool pick is still the Sense-ation Harness. I use it since the late nineties and recommend it to all my clients. Find it at Soft Touch Concepts.

Locally, in Nova Scotia, check with Adina and Amy

A new dog walking tool comes from the land Down Under. The leash attaches on the back, not front like the Sense-Ation harness, but still gives the owner complete physical control without stress and irritation to the dog. An ingenious design. I tried it and like it especially for broad-chested "bully breeds". Get more info at Dog Harness Solutions

Well-being is holistic - behavior, emotions and physical health can not be separated, by affect one another. A great resource book that deals with the physical aspects is The New Holistic Way for Dogs and Cats. The book is expertly written and based on more than 40 years of experience of a trailblazing Toronto holistic veterinarian.

One of my hobbies is to spin brushed out dog hair and knit mittens. I used to do it for other people a few years ago, but not anymore. If you have dog hair you want spun, check out The Spinners Loft.

Another hobby of ours is traveling, although we don't do too much of it because we don't board our dogs. But I love to read travel blogs and one I particularly like is Islandviewestate.

A client recently pointed me to, what looks like, very cleverly designed interactive dog toys. I haven't ordered one yet, but they seem to be perfect for the brainy and bored canine. Check them out.

And speaking of gifts - The Pawhaus Boutique has a wonderful selection of unique, thoughtful and at the same time useful theme gift packages for dogs (and cats). Very Classy Stuff.

The perfect solution for dogs who dislike cold weather, live in an apartment, or, because of health reasons, have to go more potty than the owner is able to accommodate is the

Potty Park doesn't take the place of quality time spend on walks. It's for the times in between, or for those arctic days THE DOG doesn't want to leave the cozy warmth of inside.

Davie has to pee more often than Will does. Would I live in a Condo, the Potty Park would be on my porch.

Davie and Will love anything made by Kong. And I love what they love. Kong toys are available almost everywhere, are fun, affordable and almost indestructible. Davie also likes the Guz toy. It has the all important squeaker and bounces in all different directions, making the "grab and kill" challenging and more real life like. Even though Davie practices daily with a Guz, she hasn't managed to get a mouse yet.

Activities we love include hiking, herding and tracking - and visiting multi-use parks. My new favorite one is Shubie Park in the Halifax Regional Municipality. It has a wonderful trail system, a large portion of it off-leash permitted, and an off-leash DOG BEACH! We also like Caribou Monroe's Park in Pictou County in the summer. It is rarely busy, and when the tide is out one can throw the water toy far out.

I am not revealing the breed of dog I like best, although I have one. I don't want to offend a dog and there is something wonderful about every breed, and every dog.

My favorite dog quote is by Rudyard Kipling:

"When the man waked up he said,

'What is Wild Dog Doing Here?'

And the woman said,

'His name is not Wild Dog anymore,

but First Friend,

because he will be our friend for always and always and always."
