Regardless of the dog problems you have, let me help you change them - and achieve the relationship you envisioned.
Did you know, that almost all dog problems, including aggression, are rooted in fear and/or stress – not dominance? Did you know, that if you change how you relate to your dog, your dog will change his/her behavior? Did you know, that if you change the consequence of your dog’s actions, you change his/her behavior? Did you know, that you can have a reliably and permanently well-behaved dog without corrections and punishments – that, in fact, all aversive and confrontational actions, including growling at your dog, will make matters worse and create more, or secondary problems, because they increase fear and stress in your dog? NO DISCLAIMER! Mindful Leadership everyone can do - and every dog responds to.

FREE ADVICE AND INFORMATION: Throughout this website and

Columns,
and tips.
Free advice can be helpful - but the most successful way to work through your dog's problem behaviors, or to prevent them in the first place, is to book a consultation, and there are several options:
IN (YOUR) HOME CONSULTATION:
This is a tailor-made program specific to you, your dog and his/her social group. After you meet with me, you will be able to change the relationship with your dog, and as a result his/her behavior. This is how it works: I come to your home – the visit is between 2-3 hours. I accurately evaluate your dog, and accurately determine the reason(s) why there are behavior problems. I listen to your concerns, and answer all your questions. During our first, in-depth meeting, I will explain to you what drives your dog's behavior, and what actions will lead to the changes you desire. Within five business days following the visit, you will receive a personalized report that recaps and summarizes our meeting. That means that you don’t have to take notes during the consultation. In addition, you will receive comprehensive, written material that provides you with all the information you need to succeed. It includes: The science of positive reinforcement; How to teach things every dog should know – including come and leash manners; Expert tips how to incorporate training into every day life; The fallout the dominance method creates; How to use your dog’s desire to sniff for your purpose; Basic communication – what your dog is trying to say and how you should respond; Aggression explained; Social bonding and intelligent socializing. In addition, you will receive a copy of my book
Dump Dog
In combination, you’ll have the know-how to solve your problems and to bring out the best in your dog. You have the tools to establish the relationship with your dog you always wanted. MINDFUL LEADERSHIP GROUP: I care about each and every dog I meet - for life. That is my guaranty. For that reason, I have created a Mindful Leadership google group, by invitation and for my clients only. It is a place to continue to get support, have (any) questions answered, to recap, clarify or fine-tune, and to chat about successes. Some of my past clients offer valuable advice to new ones. After our meeting, you will get a personal invitation to join our exclusive club. FEE: Truro, New Glasgow and HRM - $ 195.00 Annapolis Valley, Amherst and South Shore – $ 220.00 Cape Breton and Yarmouth –$ 300.00 I work with the group, not individual, and there is no additional fee for multi-dog households. Follow-up Fee: Many of my clients need to see me only once, because my method works. But depending on the complexity of your dog and the problems you are dealing with, I might recommend a separate, outside walking session. The fee for that is $ 80.00 – 100.00 – 150.00, depending on where you live.
START ON THE RIGHT PAW
For people thinking about getting a dog and want to prevent problems - Truro and parts of HRM only.It includes: Four meetings with the expert and you choose when to use them. For example: Advice before your buy = match-making, what to look for in a breeder, how to choose a rescue dog; Meeting at the breeder(s), humane society or rescue foundation to get an unbiased, expert opinion; Help you set up shortly before the new family member arrives; I’ll be there the day the new dog moves in, for example to help with the introduction to the residence dog; Shortly after the pooch arrives to advice on important first steps and rules; Meeting at the park; Any training, for example: leash walks, housetraining or come command; One meeting during the "terrible" adolescent times; Those are just ideas – you decide, during the first two years, what you need help with. You also receive general handouts and a copy of my book Dump Dog. Cost: $ 350.00 for four meetings + handouts + book.
AT THE DOG PARK
Dog problems in the park? Does your dog suffer from Dog Park Angst? Is she fearful, stressed and reactive? Doesn’t come when called? Is a bully or is bullied? Find out if your dog is dog park and off-leash ready; if his/her behavior is normal or not; when and when not to interfere; how to handle problem situations. We meet at your favorite park. I translate your dog’s behavior and communication signals in relation to other dogs and park users and give you verbal guidelines and hands-on demonstrations how to make the off-leash experience fun for everyone and dog problem free. If you envision a mutually rewarding companionship with your dog, I am the right professional for you. My clients hire me because: They deal with dog problems that prevents them from enjoying life together; Failed group classes or were denied participation; Tried everything else; Have a new dog and want to start on the right foot/paw to prevent dog problems; Want to fine-tune behavior, for example be able to enjoy off-leash outings; Their situation changes, for example baby on the way, new dog added to the social group; They are confused by contradictory training advice; They have difficulties morphing into an alpha canine; They feel that something is wrong; They invested a lot of time and money in books, trainers and equipment and still don’t have the relationship with their dog they want. I help you to create harmony between you and your dog, his social group and environment. That kind of harmony is felt and expressed connection – it has nothing to do with size, age, strength, experience or disposition. You don’t need a shock collar, a clicker or an indiscriminant amount of food treats. I don’t offer quick fixes that address one symptom at a time while creating secondary behavior problems. I help owners to a rewarding human/dog companionship that lasts a lifetime.
