2011 Dog Events

2011 dog events: Tracking, Seminars, Speaking engagements

The dog events page will be updated frequently.

Dog Watching with Silvia - September 25

When: September 25 - 10-12

Where: Seaview Park – Halifax

Join me at the off-leash park and learn more about dog communication and behavior.

This is not a training session, but an observation and interpretation event and for people only. Trust me, you will learn more if you don’t have to focus on your own dog.

Cost: FREE! Yes, absolutely no charge, but if you like what you learned and had a good time, feel free to donate to your favorite animal rescue group or SPCA.

If you are interested, simply show up and join in anytime between 10-12. Look for the person in black pants, blue top and red fanny pack and you will find us.

Nose Fun and Recreational Tracking - September 25

When: September 25 - 1.00-4.00ish or later - whenever we're done

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS FULL, BUT ANOTHER IS PLANNED FOR SOMETIME IN OCTOBER. IF YOUR ARE INTERESTED, EMAIL ME.

Where: Shubie Park - Waverly NS - we meet at the main parking lot and move to an open area together.

Learn how you can use your dog’s desire to sniff to your advantage. Nose work is fun for all family members, and increases attention and your relationship with your dog.

A group event with a maximum of 6 dogs.

You bring:

Ideally one more person

Your dog on a normal buckle collar or body harness - absolutely NO choke, prong or shock collar or Gentle Leader type nose harness

Many really small, yummy treats. Your dog will eat a lot, so ensure you keep nutrition in mind. Check with Bark and Fitz, or Global Pets, who have a great selection of tiny - I am talking about baby fingernail or smaller - size treats. Kibble is only okay if your dog is really motivated by it.

Cost: $ 50.00 per dog

Text: For any questions and to register email me at: silvia4dogs@gmail.com

Please also note that all participants are required to sign a liability waiver and indemnity agreement.

The collaborative Adina MacRae and Silvia Jay "Outsmarting Rover - How to get any dog to do what you want" seminar in July was a great success. There likely will be one more seminar this year, announced here.

Stay tuned - and hope to see you at any of my events.
